Language Exchange at Café in Nara

Chat in English with local people at our café!

Would you like to meet local people during your stay in Nara?

We may be able to organise a small language exchange event at aka tombo coffee. 

This is a friendly café event where you can chat in English with local people who enjoy practising English.

No Japanese is required, but if you are learning Japanese or would like to try a few Japanese phrases, that is welcome too.

It may suit travellers who are interested in local life, language learning, or cultural exchange.

Event Details

Price: 5,500 yen per visiting group, tax included

Café order: One order per person. Please pay at the café.

Duration: 60 minutes

Venue: aka tombo coffee

Group size: Available even for one visiting guest

Best times: Evenings and weekends usually work better

Please contact us at least one month in advance, as we need time to reach out to regular local customers from our café community.

When you contact us, please send:

- a few possible dates and times

- the number of people in your group

- Optional Message for Local Participants

(If you would like, you can also send us a short message in English for our local customers.

This may help them feel more comfortable joining the exchange. You could mention where you are from, your interests, or the topics you would like to talk about.

We may share your message with our regular local customers when inviting them to join. Please only include information you are comfortable sharing. You do not need to include your full name or personal details.)

Payment & Cancellation

We will send you a card payment link by email.

After your payment is completed, we will start inviting local participants for the exchange.

Some local participants may adjust their schedules to meet you, so please book only if you are sure you can attend.

The booking fee is non-refundable if you cancel, arrive late, or do not attend.

Date or time changes may be discussed, but they are not always possible.

*If no local participants have booked two days before the event, we will contact you to cancel the event and process a refund to the credit card used for the booking.

Friendly Event Rules

This event is hosted by our café for friendly conversation and language exchange.

Please do not use this event to promote religions, businesses, lessons, outside groups, or other events, or to recruit participants for another group.

Personal friendships are, of course, welcome, but please respect the purpose of this café event and our local community.
